Our toddler/2′s joined our 3′s, 4′s and 5′s  this past month in our new series “Spy Chase.”  It has been a great experience the past two weeks teaching the children about Jesus.  I hope you have been able to talk with your children each week about what they are learning in Journey Land.

We are sending home a “family devotional” with each child.  This gives you an opportunity during the week to spend time with them talking about the lesson they learned on Sunday.  It opens the doors at an early age to make “Jesus” the most important part of your child’s life.

Below is an overview of the lesson for September 4th, 2011 in Journey Land.  We are so excited to spend time with you and your children.  Thank you for allowing us to build a foundation that will last a lifetime.

OVERVIEW-Elevate Jr.

“spy clues”  This activity will help the children enjoy the spy theme while parents are dropping their children off into the classroom.

“Bozo Ball Drop” Through the game, Bozo Ball Drop, children will learn how to be a good friend and forgive others.

“Bible Story”  Video Portion (Genesis 37:1-36 & 45: 1-28)

• Song:  Spy Kids
• Bible Story:  This teaching time will show the children how Pogo and Dot learn that “Friends forgive others.”
• Song:  I will be a Friend

“Clue Hunt”  This activity time will help the children review the Main Point and Bible Story.

“Popsicle Stick Puppets”  This craft will give the kids the chance to act out the Bible Story so they can remember to be a good friend and forgive others.

“Forgiveness Freeze Tag” The purpose of this activity is to teach the children they should forgive others.

Baby Dedication Information

Baby Dedication

WHEN:
Due to the amazing growth of TrueNorth Church – we will hold two separate Baby dedications in 2011.  Mark your Calendars, May 15th, 2011 and September 11th, 2011

Families whose last name starts with A-M will participate in the May 15th, 2011 baby dedication.  And those families whose last name starts with N-Z will participate in the September 11th, 2011 baby dedication.  September registration will be held closer to that date.

Registration deadline: September Baby Dedication deadline is September 5th, 2011

WHERE:

TrueNorth Church offices/The Blok, 1297 W. Martintown Road North Augusta, Sc 29841.  Lunch served for immediate families only from 1:00-1:45pm.  Main event will start at 2pm, all others are welcome at this time.

WHO:
Parents who want to publicly declare their intentions to raise their child with the opportunity to know God and establish a personal relationship with Christ.

WHAT:
Baby dedication will be a special event, you’ll want to invite your friends and family and bring your camera.  Immediate family will be invited for a meal.  Extended family members will be able to join in after for the event.

Attire? Whatever works for you and your child. Many people dress their children in special clothing, others simply bring their child in a favorite outfit.

HOW: You will find information located in “Journey Land” on Sunday mornings.  Registration forms can be found online at Registration Form.   Via email (only), we would like (1) picture of your child. This should be submitted before September 5th, 2011 for it to be in the presentation on September 11th, 2011. ninaf@truenorthchurch.com.

During Small Group time every child gets to share a prayer request, our adult leaders pray with the children and then during the week.  Here are just a few requests that I can share…

“Asks God for a Cheese Fountain.”  (I want one of these too.)

“Asks God to help his family sell their house.”

“Asks God to help him get a surprise for his MeMe.”

“Asks Jesus to keep them safe.”

“Asks God for a good teacher when school starts.”

“Pray for Grandpa who died, pray for momma, daddy, grandma and everyone in our house.”

“Pray that I don’t feel nervous about school.”

Real life taking place in Journey Land.  So Small Groups for Kids…Oh yeh!

Here is some information regarding our “JUmp on Up” in Journey Land.  For more information contact Nina Fiedler at ninaf@truenorthchurch.com.

There are a few things that will be taking place over the next few weeks. School is just a short time away and we need to get our children ready to “Jump” on up to the next group.

The children are very excited, especially our rising 1st graders. They know the time is coming. I had one child this week walk by me and say “two more weeks” and then high-five me. Exciting isn’t it!

August 7th, 2011 our rising 1st graders will visit Kidzstuff. This gives them an opportunity to see what the next week will be like. The children will check into Journey Land, they will then walk down with our Small Group leaders and crew. They will check out of Journey Land.

August 14th, 2011 is another big day. Our official 1st graders will go directly to Kidzstuff. A huge day for them. Our other areas in Journey land will also move UP.

We will move children up not just because of their age readiness, but because of their developmental readiness too.  This will  mean that some will not move up.

Our lead team has spent a great deal of time observing the children the past few weeks. We have based our decisions from this time. Now, this may mean as the months pass those children who mature can be moved up. We will look at each child as an individual and what is best for them.

We ask that you continually keep Journey Land – TrueNorth Church in your prayers. God has been so good to us. The future looks bright – the building plans are moving forward and I couldn’t be happier with the direction we are moving in.

 This is just a peek at what our children learned in Journey Land this past week.

Bible Story Review

Description:  The children will view two pictures, one from the Bible Story and one that is not from the Bible Story. They will be instructed to give a high five to the picture that is from the Bible Story. The teacher will review the pictures the kids high fived.

In our Bible Story today, we learned that Daniel choose to eat foods that were good for him.  We are going to look at some pictures that will help us remember our Bible Story.  I’ll show you two pictures. I want you to give a high five to the picture that is from the Bible Story.  After we go through all the pictures, we will review our Bible Story together.  Who is ready to play?

Here is the first set of pictures. High five the picture you think comes from the Bible Story.  Note: Continue this way through all the picture pairs. Then review the Bible Story.

Nebuchadnezzar- A long time ago a king named Nebuchadnezzar became ruler over the Israelite people. Nebuchadnezzar ordered some of the strong, healthy, Israelite men to work in his palace. They were to be trained for three years, and then they would work for the king. The king assigned them daily food from his own kitchen.

Daniel- One of these men was named Daniel. He knew that those foods were not good for him to eat. Daniel was determined not to eat the food given to them by the king. He asked for permission not to eat these foods.

Vegetables and water- Daniel said, “Please test us for ten days on a diet of vegetables and water. At the end of the ten days, see how we look compared to the other young men who are eating the king’s food. Then make your decision in light of what you see.” The men agreed to try Daniel’s idea.

Healthy Daniel and friends- At the end of the ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king. So after that, they were fed only vegetables instead of the food provided for the others.

You all did a great job high fiving the picture that was part of our Bible Story.  Let’s say what we are learning one more time today. I Will Take Care Of My Body!
